Window 3

Be still, my soul, be still; the arms you bear are brittle,
Earth and high heaven are fixt of old and founded strong.
Think rather,—call to thought, if now you grieve a little,
The days when we had rest, O soul, for they were long.

A. E. Housman

Olivier d’Ormesson (b. 1983) is a French composer and organist. The title of this piece – “The city of limbo” refers to the resting place, in Catholic liturgy, for the souls of those assigned neither to Hell nor to Heaven.

This third window ranges in colour from pure white to a deep purplish blue, from the palest of tones to the deepest. The angel of the central panel bears all the colours of the window.
