Window 11

Okna (“Windows”) for trumpet and organ, is a work by Czech composer Petr Eben, inspired by the windows Chagall built for the Hadassah medical center in Jerusalem, and which Sarah d’Avigdor Goldsmid saw in Paris in 1961. Each of the Jerusalem windows represents one of the 12 tribes of Israel with a dominant colour (blue, red, green and yellow) for each one. The Zlaté okno (“Golden window”) was inspired by the yellowish window representing the tribe of Levi.

The last two windows in the church radiate with golden light. The curvy lines flow with nature’s bounty. The windows are surmounted by four candles.
